Code Geass R2 03

“Surrender to us. The outcome of this battle is clear. I cannot fire on those who throw away their weapons.”
–Kururugi Suzaku

Onscreen, Zero continues giving his speech. Outside the Chinese Federation embassy Li prevents the Britannian army from entering the premises. Rolo activates his geass but suddenly gets a call from Lelouch and Villeta. His “brother” obviously has rturned to the school safely so Rollo has no business whatsoever with the Zero currently inside the embassy.

That night, the news program broadcast shows a whole barrage of Britannian Knightmares and tanks around the embassy. Kallen watches this and congratulates Zero. The latter replies in a familiar female pizza-loving voice otakus love. C.C. removes Zero’s mask, prompting Kallen to ask her when they switched. C.C. explains that she and Lelouch switched places before the speech and also that the voice was pre-recorded, like a magic show. Kallen get’s annoyed because they didn’t tell the rest of the Black Knights. C.C. points out that Kallen’s annoyed because they didn’t tell her [enter evil smile here].

Back at school, Milly bullies Lelouch in the kitchen because Rivalz has a lack of taste and Shirley practically a worthless cook. Lelouch asks if they’re going to throw a party for the Lamperouge brothers since they’ve escaped a terrorist attack. Milly nods, adding that Shirley was so restless. The other girl takes action — by covering Milly’s mouth. It doesn’t help that Shirley’s hands are sticky from the food she was preparing. She and Rivalz even argue about Rolo’s shy personality. Lelouch wonders about the “switch” between Nunally and Rollo and how his enemies even erased his sister’s memories from the whole school.

Below Ashford exists another branch of the Intelligence Agency spying on Lelouch where Villeta and Rolo are the elite members. They discuss the probability of Lelouch recovering his memories. The whole day, Lelouch creates his plan of living a normal student life without his enemies knowing that he’s recovered his memories. Seeing Rollo, he thinks that he should begin by manipulating him.

In the other side of the world, the German State Army’s Knightmares battle it out with the Brit’s Sutherlands. The Italian army is also holding the enemy Britinnians at bay. Bam! Britannia’s white grim reaper knightmare appears, asking them to surrender peacefully. Suzaku and his newly upgraded Lancelot Conquista kicks major ass when the enemies didn’t surrender. In the battleships overlooking the battle, Schniezel asks the officers to be glad for Suzaku’s success as a Knight of Rounds.

At school, Lelouch deducts that Nina and Arthur (the cat) are missing by looking through his digital camera’s photos. Rolo interrupts him and asks how he managed to escape the tower since the army completely surrounded the building. Lelouch corrects him since Rolo should be asking how he got away from the terrorists. He tells his “fake” brother that there was an emergency escape route. Lelouch notices a heart-shaped locket tied to Rolo’s cellphone. He remembers the he gave that to him on Nunnally’s birthday as a present. Lelouch casually asks Rolo to give it back so that Lelouch can give him a manlier gift but Rolo overreacts.

Villeta and Rolo discuss Lelouch’s geass down in the sewage room when another agent overhears them. Rolo uses his own geass and “stops” time. When Villeta sees them, the man is already dead, stabbed by a knife. Rolo adds that it’s the safest and most effective method.

In the Chinese embassy, Kallen finishes her bath, sees Lelouch’s uniform and underneath that, the bunny girl costume. She intrudes on C.C. and the Chinese delegates’ talk while only wearing a towel. Gohai mistakes her as Zero and C.C. pulls a prank on them. Li greets Kallen. A messenger interrupts and tells them Guilford’s going to execute the main members of the Black Knights tomorrow. He asks Zero to duel with him.

Lelouch sees and contemplate’s Guiford’s strategy. Shirley drops by asking Lelouch for help in choosing a present for Villeta. Lelouch agrees to help her choose a wine for their teacher and Rivalz hears this.

Later, Lelouch removes the contact lens hiding his geass. C.C. has mentioned that it’s specially made for him. He puts it back then starts leaving. However, Rolo is standing between him and the main door. Lelouch explains Shirley’s predicament. Rolo seems to understand since he himself values his very first birthday. Once Lelouch is gone, Milly and Rivalz drag Rolo to spy on Lelouch and Shirley.

At the wine store in the mall, Shirley debates herelf if it’s a date. She finally decides it’s a date. Lelouch, however has other things in mind. Obviously, he can see the trio spying on them and admires Milly fro even bringing Rolo with them. Lelouch and Shirley leaves the shop once they’ve bought the “present.”

Villeta communicates with the undercover spies in the mall. Rolo wonders if Lelouch really is Zero. Lelouch plans his counterattack while continually spying his surroundings. While alone in another shop, he uses his geass on the clerk. In a music shop, Shirley listens to a music cd while watching a couple kiss. She gets surprised when Lelouch appears asking her what she’s looking at. She desperately points at a cable car advertisement.

Lelouch then remembers the past event in which Shirley first lost her memory. Anyway, he mentions to her that the trio are spying on them and asks her to accompany him on his prank. They enter s clothing store and Lelouch enters one of the changing rooms. He’s obviously brought a disguise with him. After changing clothes inside, he pranks calls the mall about a terrorist attack.

Villeta and her group got a tip that the Black Knights will attack the mall Lelouch is. Lelouch silently leaves the shop while the mall’s employees are starting to panic. An undercover agent follows Lelouch. The geassed clerk activates the alarm sending all the people in the mall to panic and run. Rolo runs into the shop Lelouch went into and finds him gone.

There’s a state of confusion in the Intelligence HQ as they lose track of the spy Scorpion and Rolo since every communications device in the mall is jammed. Lelouch admires his own ability to create panic.

Rolo returns to the HQ in Ashford only to be cornered by Lelouch holding a gun. Lelouch finally reveals that he has regained his memory. By the way, all the members of the surveillance agency went to the mall since Scorpion’s (under geass) feeding them false information on C.C., and amazingly, C.C. is far more important than Lelouch. Lelouch has just removed his lens to geass Rolo when his prey disappears, only to point a gun at him from his back. Check.

At the Chinese embassy, trouble brews as Li points his sword against the Black Knights.

****

Aside from the episode being leaked earlier, the story still tried to put some surprises here and there, especially on Li, who suddenly becomes a traitor of some sort to the Black Knights. And we get to see Lelouch wear more types of clothing.

Code Geass R2 02

“How did he get past the siege? I see! They used the inside of the fallen Babel Tower as a road! Then, what about the Chinese Federation? Did they negotiate this ahead of time? Impossible! It’s Zero! It’s the real one!”
– Gilbert G.P. Guilford

Outside Babel Tower, the Britannian army are discussing the sudden terrorist attack by the Black Knights. The Brit’s Sutherlands shove the Black Knights’ frames deeper into the tower. Kallen assures them they’d kiss heavy ass once Zero’s seen the tower’s blueprint. She then has a flashback of th Kaminejima Island incident in which she leaves Zero/Lelouch in the hands of the Eleven traitor Suzaku.

In the other side of the building, Lelouch glances on the page of the Intelligence Agency Commander’s notebook before having a flashback of his own. It is then revealed that Suzaku brought Lelouch before the Emperor as a bargaining chip so that Suzaku can become one of Britannia’s elite knights, the Knight of Rounds. The big bad Emperor erases Lelouch’s memory concerning Nunnally, Marianne, and Zero, with his very own geass. After the flashback, C.C. assures Lelouch she wasn’t the one who gave the latter’s father geass. Lelouch then remembers he doesn’t have a brother!

In another side of the tower, Rollo asks for assitance from the Britannian army. Lelouch’s pissed since he can’t use the Knightmare of the Intelligence group. Fortunately for him, an idiot soldier in a Sutherland appears. You know the drill. Lelouch and C.C. lovingly teases one another afterwards.

Inside the Chinese Delegation building, Governor Carares decides to join in the fun. Sadly, Guilford remains to entertain their Chinese associates. Quick battle: Kallen uses her Guren’s special move to destroy some enemy scum. Lelouch, now at the tower’s command center, directs orders to the Black Knights to attain victory. The enemy’s movable command unit stationed outside the building is in chaos. Carares enters the fray, irritated at the progress. Urabe admires Zero being a student before slicing an enemy into two with his Burai. The other Black Knight infantries use the frames captured by Zero. Dun-dun-dun. Kallen points a gun at Lelouch.

Somewhere in Britannia, the Emperor tours Suzaku temple, which the Emp calls a weapon. Back in HQ, Kallen asks if Lelouch geassed her so he can bend her to his will. Lelouch, says no and asks her if she doesn’t trust him. They enter into an agreement and maybe a little argument until C.C. calls him about Britannia’s reinforcements.

Literally a hundred of Sutherlands surround Babel Tower from the air. Carares gloats on his throne. Enemy Knightmare are on the top floors and Carare’s Command unit and army are waiting outside. Lelouch confidently tells Kallen that he’ll win. Let’s return to Carares gloating. Now he’s ordering the media’s assistance since there will be a beheading-galore. Lelouch asks C.C. if she’s finished with her tasks yet and the latter replies that it’ll be ready within ten minutes. And a LOT can happen in ten minutes. Suddenly, the Black Knights informs Zero of a rogue Knightframe before they become sushi. One of the Black Knights even gets to see the new Knightmare’s speed and power.

Urabe advises Zero to leave, adding that they’re mere pawns anyway. Lelouch corrects him though. C.C. gets annoyed at Lelouch’s worries, adding that Urabe and Kallen are there to babysit him. That’s when the golden Knightmare Lancelot-look-alike arrives and pwns Guren and the Burais with its ungodly speed. Urabe sacrifices himself so that Zero can live. The golden Knightmare, however, remains unscathed even after Urabe blew himself up. Luckily, the preperations are complete and Lelouch activates all the bombs.

The enemy units on top of the building explode like crazy and the building drops on the unsuspecting Carares. Chaos ensues at the main HQ but Guilford solves that. That’s when Zero appears on everyone’s screen and proclaims his speech. A lot of people are SHOCKED. Guilford’s officers have tracked the source of the signal. It’s in the Chinese Federation embassy. That’s when Guilford finally figures out that Zero used the fallen building as a road to the embassy.

Probably in Britannia, Gino entertains the idea that this Zero is a fake and consults Suzaku. Kallen and Li are amazed of Zero. Guilford even exclaims that this is the real Zero. Anyway, the Chinese Federation’s room becomes Japan’s first territory. Li goes outside to defend the area, until Rollo appears on the Golden Knightmare and activates his geass.

Zero’s plan is a triple win by the way. Plus, we get to see what really happened during those gaps.

Code Geass R2 01

28 05 2008

“From that day on, I was never satisfied in my heart. Tha fabricated everyday life didn’t make sense. The time that slipped by…a life of a sheep implanted with other memories. However, the truth continuously beckoned me. Indeed, I wasn’t the one who was at fault! The world was!”
–Lelouch Lamperouge

In the Britannian Residential Area Tokyo Settlement, a woman informs the airspace that their airship will be flying in the area. The “supposed” purpose of the flight is public advertisement, C.C., the airship’s speaker smiles wickedly. Behind her, Urabe gives out an astounding speech to lift the spirits of the remaining Black Knights.

At Ashford Academy, Viletta-sensei (P.E. teacher) chases Lelouch all over school because he needs to take remedial physical education classes. Finally cornered in the Laboratory room, Lelouch casually tips a liquid’s container resulting in it to chemically react with another liquid. Pink colored gas fill the room as Lelouch leaves Villeta. Milly throws Lelouch a bread as he runs downstairs prompting the pursuing Villeta to tell her off. Villeta jumps out of the window to land directly at her prey, only to find out that he’s Rivalz in disguise. Villeta sees Lelouch leaving the school’s premises using Rivalz’ motorbike. Shirley sighs.

Travelling through the highway, Lelouch and his brother Rollo discuss Lelouch’s school mischiefs. Lelouch inadvisably hands Rollo (the driver) a piece of bread ending with the motorbike do zigzags along the road. Lelouch apologizes before directing his thoughts to Area 11’s condition after the Black Rebellion. Rollo asks him if he’s going to college but Lelouch tells him he hasn’t decided yet. Lelouch thinks that nothing will change even if he gets ino college. They stop at an intersection as a big tv screen shows Carares (Area 11’s governor) ordering his soldiers to shoot the Elevens (Japanese). Lelouch thinks of Zero as a foolish man to even dare fight Britannia.

Carares is informed of the arrival of the Chinese delegates. In Babel tower, the Britannian Intelligence Agency continue their spying on Lelouch. They believe that the enemies will show up. Lelouch tells Rollo to go home but Rollo disagrees. Rollo asks him why he plays these illegal gambles since they don’t really need the money. Lelouch replies he just wants to play against stronger opponents, which is a lie; he just wants to kill time. They arrive in their destination: an elite gambling hall filled with rich Britannians. Below their floor, two Eleven siblings fight each other as a form of amusement to the Britannian nobles. Lelouch describes the difference between Britannians and Elevens before entering another room where a bunny girl (Kallen) spills drinks on his uniform.Kallen apologizes and wipes his clothes. She tells him his views on being an Eleven and Lelouch stops her. Kallen’s about to give him a transmitter when some Britannian guy pulls her hair and inspects her. Apparently, there’s a bunny hunting game going on. Lelouch gets pissed and challenges the guy to a chess match. Lelouch informs he knows the guy’s a famous chess player.

Outside, the airship continues floating around. In another building, the Eleven elites (former Black Knights) are being locked into their cells. Some of them enter arguments concerning Zero as a traitor. Back in the gambling hall, the Black King loses to Lelouch, prompting the former to call Lelouch a cheater. Everyone knows you can’t cheat in chess, so the Black King orders his bodyguards to create some evidence. That’s when the terrorists attack.

Kallen removes her bunny ears, punches the Black King, somersaults and kicks him straight in the face. Outside, the airship secures landing on top of Babel tower. Kallens pwns the asses of Black King’s bodyguards and pulls Lelouch with her. The Black Knight’s frames enter the building and the Intelligence Agency forms a counterattack with theirs.

In the other side of the city, Governor Carares welcomes the Chinese delegates. Gohai, a high eunuch, asks Carares if Zero’s dead. Carares it’s to early for the Chinese Federation to understand Britannia. A guard asks Li Xingke to hand over his sword. That’s when Li cuts their belts in a flash. Li apologizes and tells Carares that it’s too early for Britannians to understand the Chinese Federation.

Kallen loses Lelouch in an unknown way. The remaining Black Knights in the airship join the search group as the airship emits pink gas. Nice. Two times this ep. Inside the building, incredible traffic ensues. A terrorist frame drops down into where Lelouch is and stretches its hands, mimicking a person asking for another to take his hand. The Britannian army knightframes appear and massacre a lot of people with their bullets. Lelouch pulls Rollo away from the battle.

Kallen enters the Guren to join the combat with the key conveniently disguised as a lighter. Lelouch and Rollo hide in an unfinished part of the building. Lelouch shoves Rollo away from a gunman and falls down. Fortunately, Lelouch survives the fall and hastily climbs back to rescue Rollo. He stops on one floor only to see dead bodies littered on the floor. He even sees a dead bunny girl holding Zero’s picture. Then he notices the enemy Knightmare from before. C.C. comes out of the cockpit and tells him they’ve come for him. She says she’s an accomplice.

The Intelligence Agency shoot C.C. in the heart. Lelouch catches her body as the soldiers burn the dead bodies, and even the live ones. The Officer in command reveals that they’ve been spying on Lelouch to catch C.C. and that since their mission’s accomplished, they should kil the bait too. Lelouch asks for power to defeat them, and C.C. wakes up from the dead and kisses him, returning each and every memory of Lelouch.

Lelouch and C.C. stand up, suprising the soldiers. Lelouch’s geass power up and he orders the soldiers to kill themselves. Urabe and Kallen’s Knightmares arrive asking Lelouch for orders. Lelouch finally assumes his alter-ego, Zero.

Somewhere in Britannia, Suzaku and two other Knight of Rounds gather around the Emperor. Suzaku then gives out an oath to personally kill Zero.

****

Amazing episode, though having a “parallel” plot with the episode from the first season.

28 05 2008

I decided to make an index page so that the readers can easily navigate the site. I myself think that this is a rather good idea in itself since it’ll make everyone’s life easier, even to myself. I’ll edit it in the future to, considering that I’d blog other series aside from Clannad.

I’m working on Code Geass R2 episode summaries right now. I’ll try to finish it by the end of this week though since I also want to blog Soul Eater.
