Continuing from the last episode, Soul drops to the floor due to protecting Maka from Chrona’s attack. Chrona aims his sword at Maka and even before he got the time to inch closer, a sharp blade went through the door and into his body. Stein arrives and kicks the door (Chrona included) like a true badass. The blade, a black scythe, turns into Maka’s father. Stein covers Soul’s body with his lab coat. On the other hand, Ragnarok’s bullying Chrona again. Enter Stein’s flashback: Stein returned to Shibusen to stop the Demon Blade from becoming the Kishin.
Stein easily blocks all of Chrona’s attacks. During the fight, Stein transfers his wavelength into Chrona’s body to harm the black blood. Chrona coughs blood, which attack Stein with their pointed ends. They now notice that blood is Chrona’s weapon.
Stein evades every blood and soul purges Chrona, resulting in the latter being thrown out of the church. The battle continues outside as Stein unleashes his Protective Spirit Body, which basically blocks the bloody needles. No kidding.Stein soul purges Chrona for the third time during the confusion. The witch removes her Soul protection and attacks Stein with her Vector Arrows. The witch steals Chrona back before vanishing.
Back in Shibusen, Death Scythe informs Shinigami-sama on the past incident. Stein exits the clinic and tells Maka that the operation was a success. Maka excitedly enters the room, leaving Stein and Death Scythe. Stein’s worried about the Demon Blade Ragnarok’s black blood in Soul’s bloodstream.
Black Star and Tsubaki arrive in the clinic to see Soul’s condition. Medusa-sensei (the witch from earlier), drops by to check up on Soul. The people don’t know it’s her – obviously. She shows her true colors while the group aren’t looking.

We finally get to see Stein’s debut fight in this ep. Chrona’s not a match, even for him. I’m amazed that Medusa had infiltrated Shibusen from the start, which makes me ask: Does Shinigami-sama know that they have a witch in their midst?
